A good business idea will often born of your experience. Have you ever watched people having problems or frustration, and whether you have an idea that might eliminate or reduce the problem. The richer your experience and the more observant you are, the more you will tend to come up with a workable business ideas. Take an inventory of your experience, from all the work you have done, paid or unpaid, and all the games you have played, if you are having trouble finding a solution?
Start with your resume and expand it as follows:
· Add all of your activities so you have a detailed resume. Do not limit this to work. Including games, tasks and other activities that involve you.
· For each job or activity state what you are trying to accomplish. Remember this is not for the interview, it’s just for you to be honest.
· State what you like most about the job or activity
· State what you or your colleague annoyed you the most about the job or activity
· If you interact with customers to write their frequent complaints
· For any irritation or problems you list, think about and write down ways that you can eliminate or reduce
· State the main purpose of the work or activity and ask yourself if there is a better way to achieve that goal.
This exercise will get your creative juices flowing and can cause your new winning business idea.
Always allow your brain some time below. You will spend much time thinking about and refine your idea for a business, but often times the best ideas come to you when you are in moments of mental rest or inactivity. When you finish working on the problem, the mind continues to work on it in the background, but you must give the mind space and time to do the job, which means taking a break from work mentally active.
While I was urged to give your mind a break, if you wake up in the middle of the night with a great idea to get up and write it down. When you are out and about always has a way of recording ideas that run through your mind without being asked. Sometimes you get a good idea where it is not possible, but after hours of other activities, and distractions you forget about it. Your notebook will make potential business ideas from slipping through the cracks.
If you still do not come up with ideas do not give up; keep thinking about it, but most importantly, you have to actively live and observe. Try to broaden your experience and become more observant. If you have work experience, but no formal training, take some business courses. If the opposite is true and you have a business training but no work experience to be working. If you can not get paid to work, do some volunteer. This does not mean that you wait until you finish the course or get a certain number of years of experience before you start your business, but while you are working on your idea to expand your experience in this and other ways to help.
